Bloomington, Indiana – Former Hoosier Hoosier goalkeeper Ali Batberg has joined the Indiana women’s basketball program as a team and recruiting coordinator, the league announced Friday.
“We are excited to have Ali join our staff in this capacity after a successful collegiate career,” said Indiana coach Terry Morin. “She has always expressed an interest in pursuing a career in college coaching and we are thrilled to begin that journey here. Ali is a true competitor who has helped us build this program and is an amazing person who will impact our players on and off the field. We look forward to seeing her transition into a member of our staff.”
Throughout Battberg’s graduate student season in 2021-22, Maureen has expressed her hope at several press conferences that Batberg will one day join the cast.
The day has come, and Batberg has five seasons of Hoosiers credibility including her one in the red jersey.
Battberg finished her Hoosiers career as a four-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in her final season and helped lead Indiana to two consecutive Sweet 16 and NCAA titles three times.
It ranks ninth in all-time scoring with 1,752 points with a career average of 14 points per game, which ranks eighth in the program.

To top it off, it also ranked third in the making of the 527th.
“I would like to say thank you to coach Maureen and the rest of the staff for their faith and trust in me as I begin my coaching career in college,” said Batberg.
“I couldn’t think of a better place and with better people to start the next chapter with. I will learn and develop as a professional from one of the best employees in college basketball and continue to be a part of the Indiana program, which holds such a special place in my heart.”
Batberg wasted no time in returning to her cream and crimson home after her final season as she averaged 11.6 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.
First, the Columbus, Indiana native stayed close after being drafted by Indiana Fever as the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft.
Once released from the team, she returned to her Indiana roots to make sure that the second round of the NCAA Championship wasn’t the last time Batberg saw Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Coach Battberg has a beautiful ring, and now she’s going to get training on the court where she helped make history.
