Why was the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 called?
How much emissions come from tires, again?
This is our look back at the opposite week – here at green car reports—For the week ending May 20, 2022.
How does the first luxury relative of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 drive and perform? You’ll want to read our review of the Genesis GV60. And in further daily driving review of the Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid, we find that the model is lost in the Ford Energi era, lacking the design and technical expertise of the Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Really, it just needs to stick to the plugin side a bit.

Cadillac announced this week that the Cadillac Lyric 2023 costs $62,990 in single-motor rear-wheel drive, or $64,990 in two-motor all-wheel drive. It also revealed that it expects the RWD version to return with a range of 312 miles from the EPA.
We report an unusual patent — suggesting that General Motors may consider dual-charging power planning for its electric trucks. The configuration, as described, will allow a dual-layer package like that of the upcoming GMC Hummer EV or Chevy Silverado EV to be charged either with an outlet at 400V, one at 800V, or even to charge one while using the other to send a load – the EV will likely charge A second from the same charging connector.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 have been recalled due to foldable concerns and a software overhaul that may sound like a great example of the benefits of over-the-air repairs in its advanced platform. These forms should only go to dealerships because they don’t allow it yet.
Kia sees electric trucks as playing a key role in its strategy of advanced mobility and autonomous technology. I have shown visualizations of the first few vehicles called compact purpose vehicles (PBVs), which are targeting different global markets.

Hyundai has announced plans to set up an electric vehicle plant in Georgia, along with a nearby battery project to supply it. With annual capacity of 300,000 electric vehicles and production set to begin in the first half of 2025, the move puts some seriousness behind Hyundai Group’s intent to be – through its co-brands including Kia and Genesis – one of the three largest sellers of electric vehicles in the US by 2026.
The US automaker has confirmed that US company Sila will provide silicon anode battery chemistry for the upcoming electric version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV. The electric SUV will be able to deliver longer range without the sacrifices of packaging, thanks to the cells’ high energy density.
Honda Intro Teaser – May 2022
The GM-based Honda Prologue EV is slated to launch in 2024, and it created quite a stir this week in a design sketch. Although General Motors will build the front, Honda’s electric vehicles are in the pipeline to arrive two years later.
Several new concept cars were shown this week from European automakers. The Mercedes Vision AMG concept offers a glimpse into the future of the AMG performance car brand – including its exclusive platform and powertrain systems. It seems designed to coordinate with the cool EQXX concept, which isn’t a bad thing. And sustainability is the subject of the Renault Scénic Vision concept, which borrows its name from the European-focused onion engine that arrived in the 1990s, but shows the future with a combination of a 40-kW battery pack and 16-kilowatt fuel — the cell stack offers a range of nearly 500 miles — still. Hydrogen tank and TBA hydrogen network.

Based on a report earlier this week, at least some Volkswagen dealerships in the US were completely out of the loop on its electric all-wheel drive Scout brand — raising questions about whether the German automaker is trying to circumvent the dealership and sell outright.
New data provided by a British company on tire wear has once again brought a flood of comments and feedback from our readers. Could the added weight of electric vehicle battery packs significantly increase particulate emissions from tires? We think so, if you look at the company’s less extreme scenario.

Amid rising gas prices, the operating cost advantages of electric vehicles have grown stronger — and can now be paid for at less than 15% of the cost of petrol vehicles per mile, according to an updated report from the electric vehicle industry group.
A group of experts warned this week that the Department of Energy’s upcoming $8 billion hydrogen centers could be as dirty as coal — in terms of carbon impact — if the Department of Energy does not announce and define exactly what “clean hydrogen” means.
Electrify America has announced that it has signed off on a new 75 megawatt Mojave Desert solar, allowing the entire charging grid’s annual energy production to increase by 225,000 megawatt-hours — more than enough to offset all of its energy uses.
Stela Vita electric RV in fully charged show
Electric recreational vehicles are coming in within a few years, and as the leading RV maker has suggested, citing survey results, expectations for charging e-RVs are unrealistic, even next to impossible, given the current charging realities. We need a new set of infrastructure solutions – who will lead? Then we also had a look at the Stella Vita electric RV which started as a student project. With an estimated 372 miles of 60 kWh battery pack, ultra-dynamic shape, lightweight construction, and roof-mounted solar panels, is this the future of recreational vehicles?
