With the opening date less than a month away, Watertown Rapids is gearing up for the upcoming season and has some big announcements at its press conference on Friday.

Rapids’ big announcement was Waite Toyota joining Rapids as the team’s main sponsor for the upcoming PGCBL season.

Rapids general manager Nick Czerow says having a partner like Waite Toyota on board will allow the team to do some of the things they were unable to do last season due to financial constraints.

This will be called Toyota Field at the Alex T. Duffy Showgrounds. This allows us to do a lot of new things that we wanted to do. We bring back fireworks on July 3rd to celebrate Independence Day. We haven’t had those in the last few years, so thanks to Toyota for helping us do that. We also have a big promotion on opening night where you can find free entry tickets for Toyota scattered around the city. You can find it at Waite Toyota, you can find it in pocket schedules at work counters all over town,” Czerow said.

“When they first approached me, I thought ‘that sounds like a really good idea.’ I know Rapids is a very family-oriented organization. They do a lot of things here, a lot of fun and that’s the kind of organization,” Waite Toyota owner Barry Waite said. that we want to be associated with.

The team also unveiled their new uniform for the 2022 season.

The shirts were purchased with the help of another team sponsor, Laura D. Whitney State Farm Insurance.

Whitney says that when she was called to take care of the T-shirts, she didn’t think twice.

“I love the whole organization. I love the people who come to the ball games. I love that this place is family friendly and I want to make this experience for everyone in the north of the country a great event,” Whitney said.

The Rapids are looking for the same on-field success they are achieving off the field with their sponsors and partners for what is shaping up to be an exciting 2022 PGCBL campaign.
